Come and unwind in the peaceful surroundings of Semaphore Farm Camp, where nature and history meet. Nestled within private forest and pasture, our pet-friendly campground offers a rustic yet comfortable retreat, just moments from the Port Arthur Historic Site.
Our spacious sites let you choose your perfect spot, whether shaded beneath towering eucalypts or open to the starry sky. With fresh spring water, a cozy camp kitchen, and a crackling fire when permitted, you’ll find everything you need to relax and reconnect with nature.
Staying at Semaphore Farm means slowing down and soaking up the beauty of Tasmania’s wild landscape. Wander our forest trails, spot native wildlife, and enjoy the friendly, welcoming atmosphere that makes every visit feel special.
We occasionally close for short periods for maintenance. These times will be blocked out for booking.
Uncrowded sites across 5 acres, with level pad sites and flexible tent spots for a quiet nature escape.
Enjoy fresh spring water, a hot shower, and a rustic camp kitchen with a wood stove and BBQ.
Explore 150 acres of forest and pasture trails, perfect for walking, pedal biking, and soaking in the natural beauty.
Minutes from Port Arthur Historic Site, beaches, Remarkable Cave, and coastal attractions—adventure is always close by.
Spot wallabies, nocturnal wildlife, and diverse birdlife, including our resident Wedgetail Eagles soaring overhead.
Dogs are welcome on a lead, under control, or contained, so they can enjoy the adventure too!
You’re free to choose your own camping site for either tent or van. Ideal if you prefer space around you, or you’re in a group and don’t need a level site.
Prices start at: $22 per night
These pads are on either edge of the campground road for easy access and a level site. Located closer to the camp kitchen, shower and toilet.

The World renown Port Arthur Historic Site is a few minutes drive or a 10 minute walk away while the Coal Mines Historic site at Saltwater River is only a 20 minute drive away.

It’s a is a very short walk to Possum Beach while the stunning Safety Cove Beach is just a few minute’s drive away. Remarkable Cave and the Crescent Bay Walk are also within a 5-minute drive.
Stewarts Bay beach is also a safe swimming beach for children and less than 10 minutes’ drive.
Other favourite swimming spots are at White Beach and Slopen Main Beach – a 15- and 25-minute drive away.
As you leave the peninsula, Eaglehawk Neck Beach is great for walking and surfing.
Other top surf spots include Remarkable cave, Roaring Beach near Nubeena, and Shipstern Bluff for the big wave surfers.
We have many km’s of walking and bike trails through 150 acres of managed private forest directly accessed from the camp.
There is also a walking track to the Port Arthur Historic Site accessed from the camp’s rear gate, and there are many walking trails on the Tasman Peninsula within a short drive such as the Cresent Bay Walk just past Safety Cove.

The beautiful Canarvon Bay area has quiet coves for peaceful paddles and the whole Peninsula provides great fishing spots in many locations. BYO equipment.

There is plenty of wildlife to see at night (even Tassie Devils) and birds during the day. You might even see our resident Wedgetail Eagle! Find out more about the wildlife on the Peninsula here.
We welcome camping with horses, and there are secure yards available along with fantastic trails through the forests of the 400 acres. (Prior Permission required).
Riding on the nearby beaches is permitted. Enquire with Marian for more information and booking guidance.
